In week 1 I learned how to wash hair and in week 2 I practised it.
Washing hair:
Products used: Shampoo, Conditioner.
Equipment used: Sally's Afro comb.
I learned that when you wash the hair you need to use two shampoos and a conditioner to thoroughly cleanse the hair, I also learned that combing through while conditioner is in the hair makes it easily manageable when it comes to drying and managing the hair, as it has no knots.
How to dry the hair:
·
When the hair is still wet comb through, so it’s
easier to dry.
·
Section the hair staring from the bottom, taking
sides away first.
·
Use university electrics equipment.
·
Before you blow-dry the hair make sure it has
most of the water out.
·
Put the nozzle on the hair dryer for more precision
drying.
·
Before blow-drying the hair check that the cable
has no knots in it
·
While blow-drying keep the filter at the back of
the hair dryer away from the models head as it can suck up hair and get stuck.
·
Turn it on full power
·
Staring from the roots first, then dry down to
the ends.
·
Use your round ceramic brush to help control
your downward motions and to boost hair
·
Take dryer underneath for root boast.
·
Use the hairdryer to pick up the hair once you
have blow-dried all the way down.
·
If you take your fingers through it makes you
move hair around.
·
Turn temperature down when near face area, as it
can become to hot.
·
The cool setting is to set the hair in position.
·
Do not touch warm hair let it cool to set.

Sectioning the hair
Blow-drying the section
After
I learned when drying the hair for
a more precision dry you use the nozzle and your round brush, use down ward
motions and picking up the hair with the dryer to go along quicker. I also
learned for root boast to use the round brush and take it underneath the roots,
rolling the brush while you dry the roots. I think I achieved a straight and
volumising look. If I were to do this again I would use a serum or more heat
defence to stop the fizziness that she mentioned in her consultation notes. I would also section the hair much neater with my comb.
