Practising Curling Hair and Creating Shape

Week 6- Practising curling hair and creating shape- Lottie

See week 5 for notes.

In week 5 I learned how to create spiral curls. In week 6 I practiced it and I also learned how to use a hair rat.

Curling the hair (spiral curls):

Sectioning the hair

The side of the hair

I learned how to create a spiral curl by angling the tong down. I liked the way my curls turned out. If I were to do this again I would curl more of the hair and make sure I put them in pin curls for them to set. As her hair had bouncy curls I wouldn’t set the hair if it were a quick shoot however if she wanted them in for most of the day the best way would be to set them.

Creating shape:

We used hair rats in the lesson to create an Elizabethan shape. I was not confident with this and didn’t use enough hair to hide the hair rat, I also didn’t position the rat properly underneath the hair so it kept dropping side ways and wouldn’t stay up. If I were to do this again I would use a lot more hair and try to create a more volume look rather than a roll effect.
